Released on: January 1st, 2013
Hardcover      241 pages
Rating: 4/5

K.M. Walton has written a novel full of so much raw, powerful, and gripping truth. There is no dancing around the topic, it has been put forth for everyone to witness clearly in reading. I found myself on numerous occasions struggling with the main character named Dell as she purposely made fun of herself in hopes to eliminate others from doing it. Thinking back, I have seen others do this and am saddened by the thought that this is necessary for people to do. Dell is overweight and struggles on the inside, trying to remain strong on the outside.

Having a broken family, she struggles every day, on going on a diet and cutting back on her portions only to lead to excessive eating. With a mother who is never around and a father who cares more for his fiance, she is only left with her baby sister who looks up to her and a friend that doesn't really doesn't know how Dell really feels.

Having to deal with all of this, Dell has an event happen to her that she just can't forget and can't open up to anyone about. It's personal and life altering. And when the truth ends up getting flipped around, Dell lays all options on the table and acts on them.

Walton has written a powerful and hardcore ending that will leave your heart truly touched by Dell's story.

  6. I don't think I have a favorite. But after working with lots of teen girls who had a variety of problems, I love authors who deal with these tough issues.
