Review: Switched by Amanda Hocking

Switched
by
Amanda Hocking

Ahh, yes! Switched was, is highly delectable, delicious and devouring. Addictive, yes indeed! Amanda Hocking has ever so graciously introduced us to the story of Wendy who everyone will fall in love with.

How devastating for Wendy that as a child, her mother tried to kill her, seeing her as a wicked and evil creature. The woman was locked up, and Wendy and her brother Matt, who has always been there to protect her ever since the incident, went to live with their aunt and uncle.

Now, time has passed and Wendy still can't help but think about that day from time to time. She does feel different from other people. Just like her mother always told her. She wouldn't dare mention this to anyone else though. But then she starts to notice guy at school. His name? Finn. She catches him staring at her every once and a while. Once they finally talk and he finally opens up to her, and explains the different feeling she is having, he has reasons for it. He explains that she doesn't belong here. That she was raised for a purpose. His story that he tells her is exactly what she thinks it is-a story. But it isn't. Could her mother really be out there and have sent her off to live with strangers, a mother who tried to kill her? Was she really switched? Who is she really? As she learns who she is, and finds her true background, she also finds love, loss, and the hard laws that stop her from happiness.

  3. I just didn't really feel this book. The characters felt really flat to me. I couldn't connect. Not really my taste, this one. I gave it a 3/5

  4. I've been hearing a lot of buzz about this series, especially recently with it's re-release. In all honesty though, the story sounds awfully familiar to a lot of other YA paranormal books. I'm getting kind of tired of the same formulas being recycled over & over again. Nevertheless, thanks for the review.
