Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
by
Ransom Riggs
Odd and intriguing...this one is full of mystery and mischief. The pictures just add to the unique and quite different storyline. Some are quite bizarre indeed! Don't be surprised if they show up in your dreams!
Jacob has always listened to his grandfathers wild and crazy stories about his life growing up. The monsters he has fought and ran from. The war he was in. Jacob always listened and took it with a grain of salt. He was the only one in the family that would listen. Maybe that's why his grandfather chose him to tell all those stories to. Maybe.
Jacob had finally had it one day. He was tired of listening to the stories, they couldn't possibly be true. He had decided to confront his grandfather only to be shown the most bizarre and shocking photos. His grandfather came to rely on Jacob more throughout the years only trusting him instead of any other of the family.
Jacob, receiving a frantic call from his grandfather saying that they have found him and have come for him, rushed to his grandfather's house only to follow the trail to the woods. That's where he found his grandfather. Dead. Looming above him...exactly what his grandfather had been describing all those years, and nobody would believe him. When Jacob tells what he sees, now nobody believes Jacob. Over time, everyone thinks Jacob has now lost it. Even he has come to accept it. But then, finally piecing together his grandfather's last words, he knows what he must do.
He must go back to visit the orphanage where his grandfather grew up. He must find out about the people behind those pictures. They will have the answer. Except, when he gets there, he finds out that the orphanage hasn't been up and running so there was no way his grandfather could have been there....but he was....and somewhere....those children are still there...

This one is just too intriguing to pass up. It's on my list! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get my hands on this one!
ReplyDeleteI've been intrigued about this book. Probably because of it having pictures. What sort of a feel does it have? Is it dark or spooky - I'm a sucker for creepy books.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Some of the pictures are kind of creepy but the book itself isn't really scary. It is a really good book though. In the back of the book it actually states that all of the pictures in the book are in fact real!
ReplyDeleteI have this book sitting on my TBR shelf, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Everyone has loved it and I cannot wait to read it myself.
